New primary school launches in Bermondsey
Families seeking flats to rent in Bermondsey will be able to benefit from a new primary school that has been opened in the area last month.
Phoenix Primary School is located on the east side Marlborough Grove and has thrown open its doors following a special musical celebration on January 10th 2012, with a brass ensemble and two year group choirs performing.
The school is the successor to the Eveline Lowe Primary School, with the former establishment's historic premises having been sympathetically refurbished, while new facilities have also been added.
It now boasts three new teaching blocks and a double nursery, while pupil form intake has increased from 45 to 60, meaning the new school accommodates 420 students in total.
Catherine McDonald, cabinet member for children's services, said: "The Phoenix Primary School opening marks an important new chapter for school staff, children, parents and carers."
This comes after another Southwark school, the Charles Dickens Primary School in Borough, was presented with an arts award last month.
