Mid Croydon regeneration plans up for public consultation
Regeneration plans for the Mid Croydon area have been put forward for public consultation.
The proposals could have some bearing on those looking for flats to rent in Croydon and so individuals may want to have a closer look at them. The masterplan has been altered following on from the news that Nestle - which is currently headquartered in the area - is going to be leaving.
All comments on the matter are to be passed on by April 2nd. The eight-hectare site already has a number of "special elements", with the council pointing to the town hall, clocktower and the Queen's Gardens as evidence of its beauty.
However, the local authority observed that the area suffers from "poor quality public realm and the legacy of the unsuccessful 1960s St George's Walk shopping precinct". Because of this, regeneration plans have been put forward in order to improve the whole borough of Croydon.
The council has linked up with local stakeholders in an effort to produce a policy that will be beneficial across the board and make a new mixed community. A range of options have been developed around the Park Street neighbourhood of Mid Croydon that members of the public can express an opinion on.
In order to improve the community aspect of the borough, Area Enforcement Officers were introduced last Thursday (March 1st). These individuals will seek to tackle antisocial behaviour and are going to be wearing high-visibility jackets so they are easy to spot.
It is hoped the move will also tackle issues such as graffiti, littering and flytipping, which should lead to a nicer and greener neighbourhood for everyone to enjoy. Teams will be situated in the south of Croydon, the town centre, the north and inner northern wards and they will be able to issue fixed-penalty notices.
