Housing price rises 'may increase popularity of flats to rent'
New figures have revealed that house prices in the UK have increased over June.
According to Rightmove, the average cost of a property this month was £237,767.
This means prices have increased by 0.3 per cent during the five weeks to June 12th and it is thought government moves such as the suspension of home information packs has contributed to this.
Although the rise has slowed from the 0.7 per cent recorded in May and April's increase of 2.6 per cent, the firm claims the housing market is struggling to maintain its recovery.
Commercial director at Rightmove Miles Shipshide said: "Serious sellers in all but the most popular hotspots are going to have to reduce their asking prices unless buyer demand recovers after the World Cup."
In London, the City of Westminster saw the biggest monthly increase, with prices between May and June 2010 rising by 8.8 per cent.
If people are concerned about the news that UK house prices increased in June, they may want to consider looking at flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth instead.
