Council makes Croydon's streets cleaner
Those living in property to rent in the London borough of Croydon are now enjoying cleaner streets thanks to efforts made by the local council.
A team from Croydon Council cleaned more than 350 pieces of graffiti from walls in the borough in February.
Every incident of graffiti was cleaned within 14 days of it being reported, apart from offensive graffiti, which was removed within just 24 hours.
The council has also been making efforts to repair potholes in the area's roads and has been clamping down on fly tipping.
Councillor Phil Thomas, cabinet member for highways and environment, said: "We're one of London's top three boroughs for clean streets and this shows that even in a time of difficult decisions, we're prioritising the things that residents told us matter most to them."
Earlier this week, the council reported that it had issued new guidance relating to safety practices in premises that offer tattoos, piercings, sun-beds, saunas and non-surgical laser treatments.
