Tower Hamlets buildings opening doors to public
People living in flats to rent in Tower Hamlets can see inside some of the borough's most inspiring buildings this weekend (September 18th and 19th).
It is all part of Open House London Weekend, an event aiming to showcase the interior of the capital's best structures.
Buildings in Tower Hamlets that will be open to the public include Limehouse Town Hall, a white brick palazzo and former town hall that dates back to the late 1800s.
Spitalfields Charnel House, a repository for storing bones that was built in the 1300s, is also on the list, along with Trinity Buoy Wharf, the home of London' only lighthouse.
Many of the buildings opening up for the weekend feature in the borough's bid to become the UK's next city.
Tower Hamlets Council stated: "Mayor Rahman believes city status will bring a raft of benefits to the area and put Tower Hamlets firmly on the map as a unique, vibrant and exciting place to live, work and visit."
Other structures opening to the public this weekend include 120 Fleet Street, the former home of the Daily Express, as well as the Bank of England.
