Southwark parents offered guide to independent travel training
Parents of children with disabilities living in flats to rent in the London borough of Southwark, as well as other property in the area, will benefit from the council's road safety team's advice.
On August 10th, there will be an Independent Travel Training Bus Awareness Day taking place, to help parents with disabled youngsters to access more information about the initiative.
The aim is for people to be given peace of mind that their children are receiving training to boost their road safety skills, so they are confident about using public transport.
Catherine McDonald, cabinet member for children's services at Southwark Council, said the training will help youngsters with disabilities and special educational needs to be more independent.
"This training event is an ideal opportunity to inform people about this essential social care service which is making a real difference to the lives of young people with disabilities," she added.
Recently, it was announced that Southwark Council would be launching new nutrition policies in the area to improve the standard of food given to under-fives in the area.
