Rathbone Market planning permission granted
Planning permission to build a £180 million market in Canning Town has been granted.
Rathbone Market will include 30,000 sq ft of retail space, as well as 652 apartments and a council "front office", Property Week reports.
The front office also includes a library, community facilities and a local service centre.
Public realm improvements will also be factored into project.
The Thames Gateway catchment area stretches from Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs in the west right up to the Thames Estuary including Southend and north Kent.
It also includes the Olympic Park at Stratford as well as Greenwich and its many visitor attractions such as the O2.
Overall, the scheme will look to create 225,000 jobs in the region and boost the local economy.
With a new market set to be built and more development set to happen in the area in the near future, more people may be encouraged to consider looking for property to rent in the London borough of Newham
