Pilot scheme may benefit families in flats to rent in Barnet
Families occupying flats to rent in the London borough of Barnet may benefit from a pilot scheme that has been launched as part of the government's comprehensive spending review.
Barnet Council confirmed it has been chosen as one of the 16 authorities that will be piloting the coalition's community budget programme.
Several public sector resources within the area will be combined to allow the committee to provide families with complex needs a range of support.
Councillor Lynne Hillan, leader of Barnet Council, said the One Barnet plan adopted by the authority had already brought together public provisions in order to supply the community with improved help.
"It opens up a potential route for efficiencies in both how we run our services and the opportunity to provide a much clearer route to support for residents," she added.
Last month, the council revealed members of the borough could now nominate citizens for the Barnet Civic Awards, which recognise individuals who have given up their time to benefit the lives of others.
