People's Choice Award up for grabs for Hillingdon residents
Residents of the borough of Hillingdon are being given the opportunity to put their ideas forward for improvements to the north of the borough. The move is part of Hillingdon Council's feel PROUD campaign.
Of the ideas sent to the council, a shortlist will be made of four or five that will then be subject to a public vote. The idea that gets the most public support will be entitled to part of the £50,000 worth of funding that is being provided by Hillingdon Council's Chrysalis Programme.
The Chrysalis Programme has been set up to fund local improvements in the area and the funding will be used to make the winning suggestion happen, in a bid to improve the North of the Borough. The winner will also receive the People's Choice Award.
Proposals are welcomed from community groups, families or individuals for improvements to be made in several areas. The areas that proposals are allowed to cover include: West Ruislip, Eastcote and East Ruislip, Harefield, Manor, Northwood, Northwood Hills, Cavendish, Ickenham and South Ruislip.
Councillor Douglas Mills, cabinet member for Community, Commerce and Regeneration, said: "The People's Choice Awards offer London borough of Hillingdon residents a valuable chance to have their say on the changes needed to make them feel even more proud to live, work, volunteer and spend time here.
"As well as celebrating Hillingdon's attractions, the council is committed to listening to residents and making improvements that count."
The People's Choice Awards have run previously in Hillingdon and have resulted in a number of different projects receiving funding. Previous projects that have received funding through previous years of the scheme include playground equipment being supplied to Ruislip Manor, a new footpath at Elephant Park and a new notice board and seating area for community group, the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens.
The programme is a great way to provide improvements to the borough but also to get the local community involved, in order to give them what is needed and wanted by a large majority of people.
