New library 'benefiting young people' living in property in Finchley
Youngsters in Finchley are making use of the redevelopment of a local library, the local authority has stated.
According to Barnet Council, more people aged 12 to 18 have been going to East Finchley Library since a room was introduced for their use.
It has Nintendo Wii and Playstation games consoles as well as bean bags and a sofa for comfort.
Councillor Matthew Offord said that the authority is dedicated to making the library useful for all ages something that could benefit youngsters and adults who are living in flats to rent in Finchley.
Young people from local schools, the Barnet Libraries Youth Board and the East Finchley Safer Neighbourhood Youth Panel gave their input for the room.
According to the council, more people have been using the local libraries after it designated a substantial amount of funds to them.
Visitor numbers have risen by over 44,000 since the £1.24 million investment brought services such as wireless internet and self-service facilities.
