Mayor opens new garden at Hounslow school
Families occupying flats to rent in Hounslow will benefit from a new early years garden that has been opened at Forge Lane Primary School last month.
Hounslow mayor Amritpal Singh Mann was in attendance to cut the ribbon and officially open the £20,000 garden, which has been created by a professional garden designer with the aid of school staff.
Created using a combination of government funding and charitable contributions, the garden is intended to offer an outdoor space in which children can play and learn.
It will be open for use in both wet and dry weather, with finishing touches to include a wigwam-style outdoor den, toadstool seats and an array of plant life.
School spokesperson Inez O'Hara said: "We would like to thank all those involved in the project, either through provision of funds, labour or ideas. It is a fantastic resource for the school which is used daily."
Last week, Hounslow Council launched a new consultation on plans to roll out improvements in the town centre, which will include traffic calming measures and the expansion of car parks.
