Individuals in flats to rent in Hounslow could save money by planning ahead
Individuals occupying flats to rent in the London borough of Hounslow could save money this Christmas by following some steps that help them reduce the amount of food they throw away.
Hounslow Coucil cited a study carried out by the Love Food Hate Waste campaign, which showed UK households waste eight million tonnes of food every year, meaning the average family puts about £50 worth of groceries in the bin each month.
However, despite producing enough rubbish to fill Wembley Stadium approximately eight times over, a large amount of food thrown away is still good.
By taking steps such as planning portions, using leftovers for lunches, storing food properly and making a shopping list, tenants in flats to rent could reduce the amount they are needlessly putting in the bin free up some extra cash in the run-up to Christmas.
According to Next Generation Food, city dwellers in the UK are generally the most wasteful when it comes to throwing food out, with men more likely than women to be the culprits.
