Hillingdon residents to benefit from electric vehicle charging trial
People seeking flats to rent in Hillingdon are set to see the region benefiting from an improved infrastructure for electric cars.
The area is one of a number of London districts to take part in a pioneering UK trial of wireless charging points, which will allow those with battery-driven vehicles to power up their cars simply by parking on a special charge pad.
Seven of these advanced new charging stations will be located in Hillingdon - including installations in Uxbridge, Hayes, Yiewsley and West Drayton - thus making it easier than ever to charge electric cars.
These new charging points come in addition to the 200-plus fixtures fitted by Source London throughout the capital, which will rise to 1,300 by 2013.
Charge points currently available to Hillingdon residents are located at the Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, Chimes Shopping Centre and Uxbridge Shopping Centre, among others.
London mayor Boris Johnson said: "Faster charging will help ensure we can create world-class support for electric motoring and be at the forefront of innovation."
