Hillingdon Council to help with royal wedding parties
Support is being offered to people in flats to rent in the London borough of Hillingdon who want to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in style.
Hillingdon Council is encouraging people in the area to organise their own street parties and will help them out by covering the cost of any necessary public liability insurance.
In addition, the authority is offering a simplified application process for events through its website and will provide advice to members of the public hoping to throw a bash on the big day.
The council added that people will need to submit requests for street parties by March 1st and suggested that cul-de-sacs, quiet streets and roads not on bus routes will make the best locations.
Councillor Ray Puddifoot, leader of Hillingdon Council, said: "In today's modern society, many people often don't know many of their neighbours very well. The royal wedding is a great opportunity to get together."
Prince William and Kate Middleton are due to marry on April 29th at Westminster Abbey and an extra bank holiday has been established to mark the special day.
