Harrow 'is one of London's greenest boroughs'
Harrow has become one of the greenest boroughs in London due to the recycling efforts of its residents.
Those living in flats to rent in the London borough of Harrow and other property in the area have pushed the area's recycling rate up to 50 per cent for the first time.
Even more recycling will take place in Harrow soon as the local council recently bid for funding from the London Waste and Recycling Board, and was awarded £381,000.
This will be used to provide recycling collections for the 8,000 flats in Harrow that do not currently receive the service, which means every home in the borough will be able to recycle by this time next year.
Councillor Phillip O'Dell, portfolio holder for environment and community safety at Harrow Council, said: "To recycle half of our domestic waste is a great achievement and I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped us reach this important milestone."
Earlier this month, the council launched a new consultation, giving those living in property to rent in the London borough of Harrow the opportunity to have their say on how to regenerate Harrow Town Centre and Wealdstone.
