Cricklewood gets new multi-use activity park
Pinemartin Close in Cricklewood is celebrating the development of a communal green space with a multi-use activity park and a new play area.
It means residents in the area will be able to enjoy the location in the summer. A group basket swing, a flower swing for toddlers and a spinning roundabout disc will all be on offer. Parents with young children who are on the lookout for property to rent in Cricklewood may be more tempted by a move as a result of the regeneration project.
A launch party is being held on April 14th to celebrate the work and there will be a number of activities taking place. According to 24dash, kids can get involved in face painting, sack races and arts and crafts.
Martin Macarthur, former chair of the Pinemartin Close Residents Association, stated: "The green space is now an engaging and safe place for all to use regardless of age. We hope the regeneration will bring the local community closer together and help tackle issues surrounding anti-social behaviour in the neighbourhood."
Moira Herring from Groundwork London said the launch of the park is very exciting news for residents of the area, while the Olympics should act as the perfect inspiration for people to get active. "As a result of consultation, Groundwork's landscape architects designed an outdoor space with a range of facilities to meet the needs of local people," she remarked.
The development has also been welcomed by Sarah Tickner, community engagement and investment manager at Network Stadium - one of the housing providers on the estate. Ms Tickner remarked it is great that families will finally get a usable space that can act as a positive legacy for the area.
Over two years of consultation was carried out before the final design of the park was finalised. Network Stadium, London & Quadrant and Brent Housing Partnership - together with London borough of Brent and environmental regeneration charity Groundwork London - all offered insight and opinion on how it should look.
