Could 'unaffordable' home repairs make flats to rent more appealing?
More people may be eager to consider flats to rent in the London borough of Hillingdon when they hear about the problems some Brits are having with house repairs.
According to Saga, more than 34 per cent of Brits over the age of 50 claim their property is in need of repair, but 15 per cent do not have the funds to fix it.
Women are being worst hit by the problem, as 20 per cent said they have to leave their property in a state of disrepair because they cannot afford to mend areas that are broken.
For 16 per cent of the respondents, the roof was the part of the house causing them the most concern, while 13 per cent stated that their drainage and guttering systems were in need of attention.
One way in which people can avoid being faced with this problem is to rent a property, which means they will not be financially responsible if improvements do have to be made.
Mark Garner, director and founder of LettingZone, recently advised people looking for flats to rent to research the area in which they want to live beforehand.
