Colindale's Grahame Park area in line for regeneration funding
New flats to rent in Colindale could be created if Barnet Council succeeds in efforts to obtain new funding for the regeneration of Grahame Park.
A major project to redevelop the estate has been earmarked as one of 18 schemes to potentially receive a significant injection of finances under the Homes and Communities Agency's Get Britain Building programme.
Should the scheme gain access to a share of the £420 million pot, it will be able to accelerate the work that is taking place to create a living area called New Hendon Village, the first step in a project aimed at providing almost 3,000 homes to Colindale.
The funding would help speed up delivery of the scheme and contribute towards the construction of the next 150 homes, while community facilities and a public piazza are also planned for creation.
Richard Cornelius, Barnet's council leader, said: "Although we are already making some real changes there, we would like the scheme to be progressing quicker."
Last month, the council announced that it has received £3.7 million from the Outer London Fund to help redevelop North Finchley and Cricklewood town centres.
