Can tenants reduce their energy bills before winter?
While Britons may have opted to choose flats to rent in Blackheath or another part of London as it is cheaper than buying a new home, the thought of winter energy bills may be adding to their money worries.
However, help is at hand from online resource Love Money, where writer Alison Hunt states that there are a number of simple ways that tenants can keep their energy bills to a minimum, even as the winter approaches.
"It's freezing outside! And of course, with cold weather comes high heating bills as we attempt to keep warm," she notes.
Ms Hunt advises that tenants first consider taking advantage of any deals on offer by switching their energy supplier.
In many cases it is up to the tenant which utilities provider they choose, although they may wish to first check with their landlord.
And Ms Hunt goes on to recommend that now is the best time to switch as the process can take four to six weeks and this means the lower tariff will be in place in time for the coldest months of the year.
