Barnet youngsters to be offered fun-filled summer activities
Youngsters living in property to rent in the London borough of Barnet, as well as other children in the area, will have access to a range of fun-filled activities to entertain them this summer.
The Youth Support Service at Barnet Council has planned a whole host of events and games for people aged between eight and 25 to take part in this year.
There will be a number of free courses on offer, from sports to poetry writing, meaning there is bound to be something which suits everyone.
Numerous venues across the London borough will be holding the activities, which will take place over a four-week period, run by professional and experienced tutors.
The aim is to allow young people in the area to have fun, as well as developing their skills along the way.
At the artsdepot in North Finchley, there will be a circus arts course, teaching youngsters everything from juggling and acrobatics to unicycling and Diablo, which in the past has proved hugely popular.
Budding footballers are bound to be keen to take part in a course in Futsal at a school in Cricklewood.
World-class players including Ronaldo are said to be fans of the sport, which has been developed to improve ball control and speed up reaction times on the pitch.
Anyone interested in first aid will find a new and improved course this year, which offers vital information and teaching about communicating effectively with an injured person and how to act in a safe manner in an emergency situation.
"With many activities taking place across the borough all year round, this fantastic array of additional workshops is sure to make this summer one not to forget," said Andrew Harper, deputy leader of Barnet Council and cabinet member for education, children and families.
"I urge those interested in attending a course to book early and most of all have fun with whichever activity you choose."
Earlier this month, residents in Barnet watched as the Finchley Carnival passed without a hitch, offering a fantastic firework display, among other events and activities.
