Barnet: A diverse and lively borough surrounded by greenery
Barnet is one of the second largest towns in London and is very popular among young families.
There are no shortages of activities to do in the borough and plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs are based in the area.
It is also surrounded by vast green swathes of landscapes that are ideal for taking long walks in the summer.
Religious sites
The borough is home to many religious sites and ancient churches. One of those sites is St John the Baptist Church, which was built in the 1500s.
It is the ancient parish of Chipping Barnet and consists of a nave and aisles separated by clustered columns which support four pointed arches.
You also have St Mary the Virgin, which is the parish church of East Barnet, St James' and St Mark's.
Diversity
Barnet is a very diverse area, with 30 per cent of the local population coming from ethnic minority backgrounds.
This has given rise to many different types of restaurants, shops and cafés which have sprung up over the years.
Properties
Properties in the borough consist mainly of terraced housing, detached properties and modern apartments.
In some of the more rural parts of the borough, you also have a fair share of country houses and mansions for wealthier citizens.
Individuals pay £302,472 on average for a flat, while semi-detached properties typically sell for £632,600. Terraced properties on the other hand usually sell for around £451,978.
Education
In terms of education, there is plenty of choice for parents, with the borough's 86 primary schools, 22 secondary schools and four special schools.
It also has many higher education facilities, with Barnet College being one of the main ones in the borough.
Middlesex University and University College London also have bases in the area.
Transport
Like most parts of the city, Barnet has excellent transport links, with plenty of rail links, underground stations and buses which can transport you very quickly into other areas of the capital.
