Landlords reveal top concerns for 2010
More regulation tops the list of concerns landlords in the UK have this year, new research has found, although such guidelines may help to offer tenants peace of mind.
According to the survey by Paragon, six out of ten landlords are worried about regulations, while funding property and disputes with tenants were also found to be concerns.
Indeed, 58 per cent of property professionals admitted they were worried about the level of regulation which would impact their businesses this year.
Furthermore, the government recently completed consultation over a proposed national mandatory registration scheme for landlords, which could also have an effect on property professionals.
John Heron, Paragon Mortgages' managing direct, said: "It is not surprising that regulation tops the list of landlords' concerns for the year. They already have to comply with a myriad of regulations, which seem to be regularly added to or amended by the government."
However, such guidance may offer peace of mind to Britons looking for flats to rent in Fulham or another part of London.
The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors recently revealed property prices are rising, which may encourage more people to rent.
