Landlord confidence 'is rising'
Landlords have become more confident about the future of the housing market and for the first time in two years, are predicting the net value of their portfolios to increase in the next 12 months, it has been revealed.
According to the study by Paragon Mortgages, 14 per cent of landlords expect to purchase more properties before the end of the year, which could see Britons looking for flats to rent in Fulham or another borough of London having more options to choose from.
This could see them securing their perfect home.
The research also revealed that the average landlord owned 11 properties at the start of 2007 and 12 by the third quarter of 2009.
Commenting on the prediction that the value of landlords' portfolios will rise, Alan Ward, chairman of the Residential Landlords Association, said: "Undoubtedly the recent rises reflect the shortage of properties available, so desirable areas will be rising while satiated markets such as two-bed apartments remain static."
