Founder's Place regeneration plans seek bidder
Bidders are being sought for an exciting new housing development only a stone's throw from Central London.
The Founder's Place regeneration project, near Waterloo, is open to bids to developers, as a private partner is sought for a scheme which will hope to improve the area's housing stock – particularly for health workers.
In what has been described as a health-led development, the Founder's Place area opposite St Thomas' Hospital has been earmarked by Guy's and St Thomas' Charity for the creation of 330 private apartments, in a mixed-use development that will seek to ease the housing shortage for key medical staff.
The project was recently given the green light by Hazel Blears, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, giving organisers a boost and fuelling hopes that the plans would be implemented and start to make a difference to property for sale and for rental in the area.
Geoff Shepherd, chief executive of the Guy's and St Thomas' Charity, said: "It has been a long and arduous process, but we are very pleased that our vision for Founder's Place will finally become a reality.
"There is no doubt that it will be of great benefit to the local health service, as well as provide much needed regeneration of the local area."
