NLA energy-saving tips could benefit tenants in flats to rent in Greenwich
Tenants and landlords of flats to rent in the London borough of Greenwich may be able to cut down on their heating bills if they follow five tips suggested by the National Landlords Association (NLA).
By installing energy-saving light bulbs, checking loft insulation, bedding in cavity floor insulation, fitting tanks and water pipes with lagging and cutting off drafts, energy usage can be brought down and bills reduced, according to the body.
David Salusbury, NLA chairman, stated individuals looking for flats to rent are increasingly showing a preference for those that are cheaper to heat due to the rising prices of gas and electricity.
"The NLA encourages all landlords to consider ways they can make their properties greener to both help the environment and help reduce their tenant's energy bills," he added.
Earlier this week, Bob Towse, technical adviser for the Heating Helpline, suggested people living in rented property should ask to see an energy performance certificate for their home, which will provide them with information on how much power is being used within their dwelling.
