Greenwich news: LOCOG confirms Olympic ticket sales
Sports fans living in property to rent in the London borough of Greenwich have been told when they can buy tickets for the 2012 Olympic Games - which will be held almost on their doorsteps.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) confirmed that sports enthusiasts can apply to buy tickets for the tournament from March 15th, whether they live in one of the five Olympic boroughs or further afield.
Applications for the London 2012 Olympic Games will be open for six weeks after this date and close on April 26th, after which people will be told whether they have been successful or not.
LOCOG chair Sebastian Coe commented: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the world's greatest athletes going for gold in the UK – a chance for people to see their favourite sport and perhaps try a new one."
The LOCOG also said that it will publish further details of the purchasing process, as well as the finalised schedule for all 650 sessions in the Games, next month.
Last week, the committee confirmed that work has started on the Olympic Park's 5,000-seat Water Polo Arena.
