Richmond Riverside improvements get public consultation
Richmond Council are giving residents the opportunity to give feedback on a number of proposed plans for the improvement of Richmond Riverside. The public consultation will let people in on the possible work that will be done, as well as allow them to share their feelings on the projects.
The council is hoping that the proposed improvements will alter the appearance of Richmond Riverside, making it a more attractive area for local residents. People have until Friday September 13th to inform them of their opinions regarding the plans. If the public consultation period goes well, construction will begin in November.
Councillor Chris Harrison, Richmond Council cabinet member for Highways and Streetscene, said: “We are investing millions into Twickenham, Hampton North, and Whitton, through initiatives such as the Uplift project and these latest proposals for Richmond will change the look and feel of Richmond Riverside. We know our residents, like us, take immense pride in the unique appearance of our borough which is why we continue to invest heavily in the environment.”
The proposed plans for the Richmond Riverside area include replacing the current CVTV pole with a more ornate one so as to make it less stark, the refurbishment of all benches, railings and bins, the replacement of all lighting columns with prettier styles and to add external power points for use by outdoor riverside events.
Along with these improvements, repairs will be made to low level walls that are showing damage from tree trunks, along with the resurfacing of pavings with high quality granite slabs in a variety of shapes and sizes to create a more interesting pavements. The walkway underneath the bridge is to be resurfaced with sealed gravel.
All of the proposed plans are aiming to make the area better looking and more functional for all residents.
Residents that wish to give their opinions on the plans are invited to complete an online questionnaire, which can be found on the Richmond Council website.
