Richmond Fairer Parking scheme delayed
A scheme to give people living in property to rent in the London borough of Richmond-upon-Thames a discount on their parking has been delayed.
The Fairer Parking system was supposed to come into force on April 1st, but this date has been pushed back until June 30th.
This is to allow the maximum number of local people to benefit from it as possible.
Under the new scheme, local residents who possess a new Richmond Card will benefit from 30 minutes' free parking at all high streets in the borough.
Leader of the Council Lord True said: "Fair Parking is a major policy of this administration."
"The principle way in which our residents can access the benefits, free parking and discount on all charges, is by using a new Richmond Card," he added.
Last month, the council announced to those living in property to rent in the London borough of Richmond that the area's two multi-storey car parks would operate simpler parking tariffs based only on the length of stay and whether or not the driver is a resident.
