Putney community hall gets £150k refurb
Newlands Hall in Putney Vale, Wandsworth, has reopened after undergoing significant refurbishments.
Some £150,000 has been invested in updating the community hall and it will now serve as a base for the local residents' association.
New ceilings, toilets and a kitchen have been installed, while a community garden has been landscaped and the opening of the site may entice more people to check out property to rent in Putney.
Councillor Paul Ellis, Wandsworth's cabinet member for housing, said: "I hope that it is embraced by the wider community on the estate as a valuable facility for young and old residents to come together."
He added Newlands Hall is set to embrace a "bright new future" as a result of the improvements to the structure.
A number of community groups will now be stationed at the site, including the Sure Start Centre, which will move in from the end of June.
