Wandsworth found to be best place for young professionals to live
According to new data released by Lloyds TSB, Wandsworth is the most popular location throughout England and Wales for young professionals to live. The borough was found to be incredibly popular with those aged between 25 and 35.
According to the study, the borough of Wandsworth has many benefits that draw young professionals to the area. The borough boasts a variety of parks and open spaces as well as a wide range of transport links. The area is also very close to the city and the West End, making it ideal for those who work in Central London and yet don't want to live in the city.
The properties in the area also draw in residents; as well as Edwardian and Victorian properties there are also a large number of conversions and riverside flats. The variety of property makes it a great place for individuals or young families.
Nitesh Patel, housing economist at Lloyds TSB, said: "Aspiring young professionals are typically well-qualified and in well-paid jobs. They tend to live in areas that are not far from the city centre, but are also places where they can enjoy open green space and a cafe-style environment."
Young families can also benefit from some of the best schools in the country. Education standards watchdog Ofsted has labelled 92 per cent of Wandsworth schools as good or outstanding, meaning that the borough is in the top eight of high performing local authorities throughout the country. This is quite a large difference in comparison to the 74 per cent of schools throughout the rest of the UK and the 80 per cent of schools in the rest of London that achieve good or outstanding in their Ofsted inspections.
Homes in Wandsworth also benefit from the country's lowest council tax rates and have done for the last 20 years. The average Band D property in London is paying a council tax bill of £1,300 in comparison to the £686 council tax bill charged in Wandsworth.
