Wandsworth Council plants 371 trees in borough
Some 371 trees have been planted in Wandsworth as the borough becomes greener.
The move follows on from local residents requesting improvements to the street scene.
It means anyone considering flats to rent in Wandsworth can look forward to the location being able to offer an improved aesthetic quality.
Some 171 of the trees will line the streets of residential areas, while 100 have been planted on local housing estates and a further 100 in parks and commons.
"The species planted this spring included cherry, lime, pear, crab apple, sorbus, rowan, oak, hazel, whitebeam, maple, hornbeam and birch trees," Wandsworth Council observed.
Over the past few years, there has been a concerted effort by the local authority to improve the area and between 2008 and 2011, 1,100 trees were planted.
This adds to the already 60,000-strong group that can be found in the numerous parks and commons the area has to offer.
