Tenants in flats to rent in Wandsworth encouraged to support Poppy Appeal
Individuals, such as those occupying flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth, have been asked to support the vital work carried out by The Royal British Legion to raise funds for those who are currently fighting for or have fought for their country.
Mayor of Wandsworth Council Piers McCausland urged residents to give generously to a cause that generates around £30 million every year.
"The legion does an incredibly important job assisting those who have fought and their families," he stated.
As well as benefiting people who have returned from the armed forces by offering them practical help, the money raised also supports widows and relatives who wish to visit the burial places of their loved ones overseas.
The council has arranged for civic offices and the town hall to have collection boxes installed to help with the appeal.
This year's fundraising target has been set at £36 million after almost £35 million was raised in donations last year.
