SW11 Literary Festival ready to begin this weekend
Book lovers in Wandsworth can enjoy writing workshops and discussions for the next three weeks during the 2011 edition of the much-admired SW11 Literary Festival.
It all kicks off this Saturday (September 17th) and goes on until October 3rd, while this year's theme is 'monsters'.
The launch of the festival sees its author in residence Isabel Losada take up her post in the window of Waterstone's on St John's Road.
Every day until the following Sunday (September 25th), she will be there writing her latest project.
Meanwhile, Aoife Mannix is the festival's poet in residence and she will be reciting some of her work at the Monsters of Poetry event on September 18th.
Over the course of the three weeks, there will be several monster-themed events, including a beast-spotting contest and games for children.
In addition, there will be writing workshops and competitions, plus the opportunity to meet best-selling authors.
These include Fiona Mountain and Tracy Borman, as well as Emma Craigie and Stephen Benatar.
Popular and prolific bloggers such as Tom Reynolds, Kertsin Rodgers and PK Munroe will also be in attendance.
The final act of the festival is the literary quiz on October 3rd at the Latchmere on Battersea Park Road, which involves "lots of prizes, lots of fun", according to organisers.
Clapham Junction Town Centre Partnership, Wandsworth Council and Waterstone's are the main organisers, while the key sponsors are Hodders Law, ASPACE and Douglas & Gordon Estate Agents.
Time & Leisure Magazine is the festival's official media partner.
