New medical centre opens in Mitcham
There are already several factors that make property to rent in Mitcham attractive to potential tenants, from competitive rental prices to the area's many local amenities.
Of course it's not just leisure facilities and shops that people look for when moving to a particular part of London, but also the schools, transport links and medical facilities it boasts.
Mitcham does well in this last area, and now there will be even more choice for residents with the opening of a new medical practice on Ravensbury Lane.
Ravensbury Park Medical Centre has the capacity to serve 10,000 patients in Mitcham and other areas to the east of the London borough of Merton.
It was built to replace the old surgery on Wandle Road, which has just 5,000 patients on its books.
The new building is home to five consultation rooms as well as a treatment room, offices and an onsite pharmacy where patients can collect their prescriptions.
Early morning, late evening and Saturday morning surgeries will be run at the practice, giving patients greater flexibility over their appointment times.
Stephen Alambritis, leader of Merton Council, said: "I am very much aware of the great benefit this new centre will bring to local residents in Ravensbury Park.
"I do hope people will take up the opportunity to join this modern practice and benefit from the services on offer to them."
In addition to building the new medical centre, developer General Practice Investment Corporation Ltd will also be making a number of improvements to the surrounding area, which it is hoped will help to regenerate Ravensbury Park.
It plans to construct a children's nursery and a cafe on the site of the medical practice and build a footbridge over the River Wandle, as well as improving lighting in the park and creating a new children's playground.
