Individuals in flats to rent in Wandsworth could benefit from parking scheme
People occupying flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth could benefit from ten new car club bays that have been launched by the council.
The scheme allows residents to hire a car from a site near their home and return it to one of the bays in locations around the borough.
Since the project's implementation three years ago, almost 10,000 locals have signed up.
Wandsworth Council's transport spokesman councillor Ravi Govindia said the move to add more bays will allow a greater number of residents to swap car ownership for membership of the scheme.
"This helps reduce the number of vehicles on our roads, eases demand on parking spaces and reduces harmful exhaust emissions," he stated.
An individual's carbon footprint is also reduced as a result of the initiative and thousands of pounds can be saved in the cost of running a car every year, added Mr Govindia.
Earlier this week, the council advised parents looking to secure a place for their children at a Wandsworth secondary school for the start of the next academic year that they only have a short time left to return their application forms.
