How tenants can save money with a new boiler
Even if they do not qualify for the new boiler scrappage scheme, tenants may find there is still money to be saved by having a new boiler fitted.
Under the government scheme, properties with a G-rated boiler are eligible to receive a £400 voucher towards the cost of an upgrade.
However, people who live in rented accommodation who have a more modern boiler may still wish to urge their landlords to have a more modern heating appliance fitted.
The Daily Mail claims this is because a new condensing boiler, when used with heating controls, can still save people over £200 a year on their energy bills, which could be a valuable cash boost to people renting a home in the capital.
In addition to the money savings, the news source also notes a condensing boiler can result in a lower carbon footprint.
Britons looking for flats to rent in Wandsworth or another part of London may first wish to ensure their new landlord can provide them with a gas safety certificate.
This is proof all gas appliances have been serviced by a qualified engineer, a task which should be arranged by the landlord at least once a year.
