Extra District Line services announced in Wandsworth
Commuters living in property to rent in Wandsworth may be pleased to hear that London Underground has confirmed additional services will soon be introduced on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line.
From December, an extra five trains will run during the morning peak hours from Wimbledon Station into Central London, a 12 per cent boost to passenger capacity.
This timetable improvement will be achieved through withdrawing the weekday shuttle service between Kensington Olympia and High Street Kensington.
On average, these trains carry just 26 passengers and seriously restrict service capacity on other parts on the line.
Wandsworth Council leader Ravi Govindia said: "This is terrific news for people living in Putney, Southfields and Wimbledon who have had to put up with increasingly overcrowded trains in recent years. They can now look forward to a more frequent service and more room to breathe on their way into work."
SW11 Literary Festival is currently taking place in the borough until October 3rd.
