Event details Tooting town centre improvements
Agents of property to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth were invited to attend a special event at which they learned about the work that is being done to improve Tooting town centre.
Called Talking Tooting, the evening was part of the council's Tooting Together initiative.
It was organised not only by the council but by the Tooting Town Centre Partnership and was held at New London Architecture in Central London.
A number of people gave talks at the event, including consultant Roi Mengelgrein, who is currently improving Tooting Market, and Jeff Wilson, regional town planning manager for Sainsburys.
Cabinet member for regeneration and strategic planning Ravi Govindia said: "We want to give Tooting shoppers the range and quality of goods they demand and are working to attract inward investment and big retailers."
He went on to say that the council also wants to preserve the town's "diversity and unique personality".
Earlier this week, Tooting Council announced that plans for converting the disused Bolingbroke Hospital site into a new secondary school are to go on display at the beginning of May.
