Carshalton leisure centre to reopen to the public
Residents in Carshalton will soon have even more choice when it comes to keeping fit and active, as the Westcroft Leisure Centre is due to reopen to the public later this month.
The building, on Westcroft Road, has undergone a major refurbishment programme that has seen the construction of several new facilities, including a competition-sized swimming pool.
An open day will be held on January 26th, giving local people a chance to see for themselves the improvements that have been made in recent months.
There will be a number of free activities taking place throughout the day, from gymnastics workshops and family swimming sessions to taster spa treatments and dancing classes.
Activities will be available to Everyone Active cardholders, and those who do not have one can register online or at the leisure centre's shop.
Among the many highlights of the day will be the chance to meet some of Team GB's athletes. Bronze medallist Max Whitlock will be taking part in a gymnastic floor display and there will also be swimming demonstrations from the likes of Michael Jamieson and Steve Parry.
Facilities at the new Westcroft Leisure Centre include a fitness gym with more than 160 stations, a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool with electronic timing, a 20-metre training pool and an eight-court sports hall for activities such as badminton, basketball, netball, gymnastics and trampolining.
There is also a group exercise studio, a group cycling studio, a dance studio, a library, a creche, a cafe, a meeting room and a day spa, as well as plenty of spectator seating in the pool and sports hall areas.
Not only will the revamp benefit local residents already living in the area, but it could also boost the appeal of property to rent in Carshalton, giving potential tenants one more reason to move to this particular part of Sutton.
