New Twickenham park and public square plans unveiled
People occupying flats to rent in Twickenham have been given an illustration of plans to create a brand new park and public square for the area.
Richmond Council has made a series of drawings and artist's impressions available to the public to showcase its ambitions for the current derelict swimming pool site at Twickenham Riverside.
A grassed area will be established near Cafe Sunshine and a park space will be situated near to the old diving board, while the square will be located close to the former changing rooms.
The current play area will be retained and improved, with new railings and trees to be installed around the perimeter, while the diving board itself will also be kept in dedication to the efforts made to re-open the site.
Virginia Morris, Richmond Council's cabinet member for environment, said: "If people take the time to see what is to be done, I'm sure they will be as impressed as I am."
This comes as the local authority collects opinions on a 15-year action plan on the future of Twickenham as part of a consultation launched online on December 16th 2011, which will run for eight weeks in total.
