Area Feature
Kilburn is an area that a lot of people would be happy to live in.
The second largest town centre in the borough of Camden, it offers a range of services for residents and visitors alike. For this reason, flats to rent in Kilburn may be much sought after by various people.
History of the area
Dating back to the 1130s, Kilburn has been established as a location in the north-west of London for a long time. Although it is a busy and multicultural London district today, it had rather more modest beginnings.
The latter decade of the 19th century saw the area improved massively, as a number of buildings were constructed by Solomon Barnett. This started a process that has seen the town centre develop into a hub of activity.
Shop until you drop
According to Camden Council, Kilburn High Street is the heart of the area. Not only does it mark the boundary with the borough of Brent, it also houses some fantastic shops.
It is filled with wonderful independent and specialist stores and this means people can get their hands on something unique. For those who have slightly more expensive taste, high fashion boutiques will be able to cater for their needs.
Location, Location, Location
Kilburn High Street is well placed, as it can be reached by either bus or train from any part of the city.
Zone 2 hosts Kilburn Tube station and it can be found on the Jubilee Line. This means Westminster, Waterloo and Oxford Circus are just some of the readily-accessible parts of London it links to.
As well as this, both Kilburn Park and Queen's Park Tube Stations are close by (Bakerloo line), while the Overground is also accessible from Kilburn High Road and Brondesbury railway stations.
There are a number of bus routes as well, although most of them come south through Cricklewood.
Schools
In terms of education, there are plenty of options for parents. There are at least five nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools and sixth form learning centres in and around Kilburn.
It also has a library, which is currently undergoing major regeneration. Some £25,000 is being spent on books, computers and a new lighting system, which should make for a more enjoyable experience when youngsters are using the building.
Go and have some fun
The Tricycle Theatre and Cinema is located on Kilburn High Street. It offers people a mixture of cutting-edge architecture, classy cinema and world-class theatre to enjoy.
People may also want to check out The Alliance, which is a popular bar in Kilburn. Open seven days a week, it sells a range of beers and real ales, while it frequently has live bands.
Although it is only one of many old-fashioned pubs the area has, with the Coopers Arms and McGoverns being other examples.
For anyone tired after a hectic day of shopping, they can relax in one of the many bistros and cafes in Kilburn, or visit some of the high-end food shops and pick up some first-rate ingredients to take home.
