Tenants 'still in strong position'
Rental prices dropped 0.4 per cent in April, according to Letting Agent Your Move, which means tenants may be able to find cheaper property to rent in London than they could in the previous month.
flats to rent in Enfield and other styles of property to rent in Ealing may be attractive to those looking to take advantage of lower rates of rent.
Your Move indicated that the average cost of property to rent in the whole of England during April was £635 - which is six per cent down on 2008's figures for the corresponding month.
David Newnes, managing director of Your Move Estate Agents, remarked: "Stock levels are still relatively high in many areas of the country, giving tenants more choice and compelling landlords to compete on price."
However, he added that the so-called accidental landlord phenomenon - which was reported by groups such as the Association of Residential Letting Agents - has slowed due to a number of these property owners placing homes back on the sales market.
