Brits 'serious about saving at 25'
The age of 25 is the time when consumers in the UK are most likely to begin thinking seriously about their attitude towards saving, new research has revealed.
According to a study by NS&I, women are the most likely to put money to one side for their holidays, while men opt to begin saving when they are due to get married.
Whatever a person's motivation for saving, flats to rent in Wandsworth or another part of London may prove to be a more affordable base for Britons than taking on a mortgage and buying a home.
Renting could allow people to put money aside towards their life gals, without worrying about the cost of a mortgage.
While the average age for Britons to begin saving seriously is 25, the findings also revealed 22 per cent were unlikely to take such action until they had past their 30th birthday, while one in ten did not begin putting money aside regularly until they were 40 or over.
